Important Note from HR: Cardinal Project Go Live – Employee Self-Service (ESS)

October 3, 2022 / General NOVA News

Today, Monday, Oct. 3, the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Accounts (DOA) is launching a new Human Capital Management (HCM) system called Cardinal.

What does this mean for NOVA employees?
After today (Oct. 3), the Virginia Department of Accounts Payline will no longer be used to access payroll information, earning statements (pay stubs) or withholdings (W-2s). Beginning today and going forward, Cardinal HCM is where you will access your payroll information, earning statements (pay stubs) and withholdings (W-2). You will still use MyNOVA to check leave balances and submit leave requests, etc.

Last week, you should have received an email from “The Cardinal Project” with your 11-digit state identification number. You will use this StateID to register and access Cardinal. (If you did not receive the email from The Cardinal Project, please check your xxxxx@email.vccs.edu account and look for an email from The Cardinal Project sent at approximately 4:17 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28.)

Today, at around 8 a.m., you will (or did) receive an email titled “Cardinal HCM is Live!” This is your notification that you may register and start using Cardinal HCM. You will be able to access Cardinal using the Cardinal icon in your myVCCS portal. Click here to access the Cardinal Registration Quick Start Guide. The VCCS will also send a short video at some point today to walk VCCS employees through the Cardinal Registration Quick Start Guide.

If you have any questions or issues registering and logging in to the Cardinal system, please submit a Help Desk ticket to the Vita Customer Carer Center at  vccc@vita.virginia.gov or call 1-866-637-8482. Include “Cardinal” in the subject line, and be sure to provide a contact email address and a phone number in the email.

Thank you for your patience as the Commonwealth of Virginia moves off its legacy HR systems to the new and improved Cardinal HCM.
