Hispanic Heritage Month Continues thru Oct. 15

October 4, 2022 / General NOVA News

Happy October, NOVA Community! Did you know that Hispanic Heritage Month spans both September and October? Hispanic Heritage Month begins Sept. 15 and ends Oct. 15. The day of Sept. 15th is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for several Latin American countries (click here for more info). The 30-day celebration continues this month with several events happening across our campuses, many of which can be found here

The recording of our DEI Spotlight Event highlighting Hispanic Heritage Month is now available for viewing. Watch Dr. Gina Garcia’s powerful talk on Becoming Hispanic Serving Institutions by visiting https://online.nvcc.edu/videoservices/. Click “Panopto,” and then log in with your MyNOVA account. Then, search DEI. (Please note that the video recording is only available for enrolled NOVA students and NOVA faculty and staff.)

You can also continue celebrations by listening to NOVA’s Hispanic Heritage Month playlist! We’ve had around 60 song submissions, and the playlist has received around 45o views. You can access the playlist via YouTube here. Hit shuffle and enjoy!
