We are happy to announce that Cardinal HCM, the state’s new Human Capital Management system (otherwise known as Human Resources System) is now live!  

How will this impact you?
Cardinal HCM Employee Self-Service (ESS) is your new Virginia “Payline,” where you will access your pay stubs and W2s going forward. Your upcoming pay stubs will be shown in Cardinal HCM, but all your previous pay stubs can still be accessed in Payline. You will continue to use Payline to access prior pay stubs going back 2 years and W2s going back 5 years. You will also log in to Cardinal HCM if you need to enroll in or update direct deposit information, or to enroll in or update benefits information. For everything else you will continue to use the VCCS HCM as you always have.

How will you access Cardinal HCM?
Please be sure to read any emails that came out last week regarding Cardinal:

• 9/27/22 – Subject: Cardinal Project Go Live – Employee Self-Service (ESS), From: no-reply@email.vccs.edu.
• 9/28/22 – Subject: Your Cardinal Employee ID, From: The Cardinal Project cardinal-comms@public.govdelivery.com.
• 9/29/22 – Subject: Important Updated Cardinal Login Information, From: DOA – Cardinal Project projectcardinal@doa.virginia.gov
• 10/3/22 – Subject: HCM is Live!, From: The Cardinal Project cardinal-comms@public.govdelivery.com.

Please note that your email filters may have warned you that some of these emails are possible phishing attempts. It is good that our email filters are doing their jobs, but rest assured these particular emails from cardinal-comms@public.govdelivery.com are not phishing attempts. These emails will have given you some information and instructions to follow regarding your myVCCS email (@email.vccs.edu) and your Cardinal State ID, as well as your initial login password.

There is a new tile for Cardinal HCM in your MyVCCS portal:

To gain access to Cardinal HCM the first time, you are strongly encouraged to use the Cardinal Quick Access Guide and watch this short video. You will need your 11-digit State ID.

If you do not know your 11-digit State ID (the one you used to access Payline):

Use the email you received from Cardinal@doa.virginia.gov dated 9/28/22, Subject: Your Cardinal Employee ID, which contains your 11-digit State ID

or

Log into VCCS HCM through your college’s myVCCS, click on the HR tile, and view your Personal Details Tile. This is a new tile that has been added with your Personal Details as shown below.
