Visit NOVA FOODWAYS Exhibit at Alexandria Campus, Oct. 11 thru 21

An exciting exhibit, NOVA FOODWAYS: Global Cuisine, Third Culture & Community will open from Oct. 11 through 21 on the Alexandria Campus in the Bisdorf  Building, AA-158. Visitors will explore the ways that our diverse community cultivates, prepares and consumes food and connects to shifting aspects of our identity. Some foodways are chosen for us because of the culture we are born into, and other foodways are practices we choose for ourselves. The interactive displays examine commodities such as coffee and tea, cooking vessels, the “global lunch” and labor practices that reflect and affect everyone.

In addition to the exhibit, an Ethiopian coffee ceremony, international cafés with coffee and tea tastings, off-site restaurant visits and a talk on Yoruba health and diet practices are a part of the scheduled activities. A special collection of cookbooks make up a reading space, and short films about food will play throughout the exhibit.

If you can’t make it to the exhibit, participate in the digital experience by answering the question, “What’s in the pot?
