Fall “Stay-Healthy” Tips

October 7, 2022 / HR News/Training

Fall has arrived, which means it’s time for leaf jumping, pumpkin spice lattes, and everything plaid. But the autumn months also may come with those seasonal sniffles and more. As we congregate indoors, preventing colds and flu may be more challenging. You can reduce your chances of getting sick by taking the necessary steps to strengthen and support your immune system.

The immune system plays a vital role in protecting the body from harmful substances and germs that can make you sick. When functioning properly, it attacks dangerous pathogens like bacteria, viruses, and parasites and removes them from the body; recognizes and neutralizes foreign substances; and fights disease-causing changes in the body. Certain lifestyle choices can help strengthen your immune system, making it more effective at warding off disease.

Examples Include:

  • Obtaining regular check-ups/ attending visits;
  • Practicing restorative and restful sleep habits;
  • Cooking meals with immune-supportive foods and ingredients;
  • Practicing recommended prevention and protection measures;
  • Fitting in physical activity; and
  • Managing stress.

Make immunity a priority. Consult with your medical professional and schedule necessary appointments to ensure you are ready for the season.
