Join the Fab Lab’s Design Challenge Team!

The Manassas Campus Fab Lab is creating a team to participate in the Reach Challenge, a nationally recognized design competition in which students create a prototype that solves a problem for a member of their community. For example, last year’s winner was a rotating platform so that the user doesn’t need to twist their body, preventing further strain and injury. We are looking for eager designers as well as a user to design for.

This team will meet regularly at the Fab Lab over the next few months, and work partially asynchronously, until final submissions are due in early January. The team will have a Team Lead to mentor the group and provide assistance with the many machines in the lab. The final deliverables will be a three- to five-page technical paper and a three-minute demonstration video.

Participation in the Reach Challenge is an excellent addition to your resume, and team members will receive exclusive access to our wood shop. The Fab Lab will cover the $375 registration fee.
