NOVA’s Campus Operations Directors Are Here to Help!

October 28, 2022 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

With fall underway, here are some words of encouragement from the directors of campus operations (DCOs) from each of NOVA’s six campuses.

Anil Manchanda (AL)The Alexandria campus in all its vibrancy, is what gets me excited to wake up. This campus is a ‘crown jewel in my eyes.’ I get to share that excitement with my team and our students. So feel free to share your excitement with me.”

Rizwan Rahman (AN)As the director of campus operations (DCO) for Annandale Campus, I make it my mission to address all non-academic functions of the campus so that our front-line folks (instructors and counselors) can direct all their attention to teaching and guiding our students. I can’t imagine working anywhere else than the Annandale Campus. My team and I ensure everything is in tip-top shape, and we look forward to saying ‘hello’ to everyone.”

Alison Malloy (LO)I have really enjoyed meeting the NOVA Community at Loudoun in my first couple of months! It has been a gift to serve the people at the Loudoun Campus, and I am grateful to serve alongside a great team!”

Danielle Nickas (MA) “I love serving the Manassas Campus’ faculty, staff and students. The office does a lot of behind the scenes work to help make the campus fun for all. My team and I are always here to help. Drop in any time!”

Aaron Cannon (MEC) “The MEC is where we transition students into life savers. That is what gets me pumped to be their director of campus operations. Each day is a great new day!”

Maxine Toliver (WO) “In the almost 30 years I’ve been at NOVA, I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing and being a part of the immense growth, success and community building. I’ve had the pleasure of working with very talented people and serving many students over the years. I’m looking forward to new and exciting things on the Woodbridge Campus in the coming months and years.”

DCOs provide direct support to the campus provost for the management and/or coordination of the budget and other non-academic functions of the campus, such as facilities planning, supervision of the campus storeroom staff, coordination of fixed asset management processes, space management, emergency and safety planning/management and special project management related to campus needs. In a lot of cases, these folks, alongside their teams work to ensure everything runs smoothly—whether that is getting in at 6 a.m.  before an event or staying after hours.

These directors also act as liaisons between the campus and the college’s office of Finance and Administrative Services to ensure effective coordination and completion of essential campus projects. Feel free to ask them questions at any time.
