Native American Heritage Month at NOVA

November 3, 2022 / Events

November is traditionally Indigenous or Native American Heritage Month. During this month, we have the opportunity to pay special attention to the history and contributions of Native American people and communities across this country. To help you get started, the Office of DEI recommends checking out Native Land Digital, an incredible resource that maps out indigenous territories across the world. You can enter your home address, for example, and learn the name(s) of the communities who originally dwelled there. This is a great starting point for learning more about Native American history!

Several events are happening across our campuses in honor of Native American Heritage Month. Click here for a regularly updated list. If you know of an event happening that is not listed here, please contact Sherrene DeLong in the Office of DEI (SDeLong@nvcc.edu).

We especially want to highlight this month’s DEI Spotlight Event featuring Native American speaker Mark Charles, who will be coming to the Loudoun Campus on Thursday, Nov. 10, 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Find out more about this event here. Hope to see you there!
