Help Students Expand Their Horizons With Study Abroad–Applications Are Now Open!

November 7, 2022 / Our Nighthawks

The Office of International Education & Sponsored Programs is pleased to announce the official launch of NOVA’s Summer 2023 Study Abroad recruitment season! Applications are being accepted through January 31, 2023 for students to study International Business or Accounting and Blockchain in Cyprus; Film in the Czech Republic and Ethical Hacking, Cybersecurity and Criminology in Scotland!

Considering that nearly half of the U.S. college-going population attend community colleges, community college students are woefully underrepresented in study abroad programs. According to 2021 Institute of International Education (IIE) Open Doors data, only 2.3 percent of U.S. community college students study abroad. Sadly, this number falls well below one percent for NOVA.

Research shows that study abroad improves college completion, retention and transfer rates; improves grade point averages and language learning; fosters intercultural understanding; builds a global context and increases employability and career skills. Our NOVA students can gain these valuable skills through study abroad, and the opportunities are out there! With your help, we want to promote this life-changing opportunity to all of our students at NOVA!
