Puhek Wins Region 20 Runner of the Month

NOVA Cross Country Student-Athlete Nicole Puhek was named NJCAA Region 20 Runner of the Month Monday. It was the first time a Nighthawk student-athlete has earned the monthly honor.

Puhek got started with an eighth-place in the 5-kilometer Bowie State Classic and was also in the top 25 at the 6-kilometer Marymount Derby. Her time (22:58:20) at Bowie State was a personal best until her final event of the season.

At the NJCAA Region 20 Championship, the Fairfax Station  native finished fourth and crossed the line in 22:22.70, which was eighth best time in program history and a personal record. Puhek earned an all-region nod following the Region 20 race.
