DHRM Policy 4.10-“Annual Leave” Amended to Include Veteran Service

December 2, 2022 / HR News/Training

The Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) has made some updates to Policy 4.10 – Annual Leave. The annual accrual rate has been updated to include a veteran’s service in the military, National Guard or Reserves. This change will be in effect beginning January 10, 2023 and will apply to current and new employees. This change will not be retroactive to a current employee’s start date but will apply going forward. Service includes:

  • Active duty military;
  • National Guard or Reserves active or inactive duty; or
  • Full-time State or Federal National Guard duty.

If you have service in the military, National Guard or Reserves that you would like to have considered for this purpose, please submit your Form DD-214 to Human Resources at dataops@nvcc.edu. We will use the form to determine your new leave accrual rate by adding your net active service, total prior active service and total prior inactive service from Form DD-214.

Please note that this only applies to classified employees and 12-month faculty in the old plan only. 12-month faculty in the new leave plan will remain at the same accrual rate. Additionally, this seniority does not apply to retirement service credit, FMLA and eligibility period for short term disability.

If you have any questions, please contact dataops@nvcc.edu.
