New Toolkit for Ad Hoc Work Groups

December 2, 2022 / General NOVA News

A new toolkit for Ad Hoc work groups at the College has been developed, endorsed by the College Senate and approved by Administrative Council. This Workgroup Toolkit is designed to clarify the college’s expectations for ad hoc workgroups at the college formed to work on a special, time-limited project impacting the broader college community. This does not apply to College standing committees, college working groups or discipline or unit-specific workgroups that do not have a college-wide impact. However, many of the guidelines outlined in the toolkit could be considered for adoption for these groups.

The toolkit provides guidance on initiation of a workgroup and a recruitment process for workgroup members to ensure representation across NOVA campuses and employee demographics as appropriate to the goal of the workgroup. It also outlines expectations of chair, co-chair and workgroup members and guidelines for communication to ensure the workgroup’s discussions are transparent and its reports are available for review.

The full Workgroup Toolkit is posted on NOVAnet under Committees, Additional Resources.
