Don’t Forget to Recommend Your Favorite Read of the Year by COB Friday

December 8, 2022 / General NOVA News

What is one of the best books you read this year? It doesn’t need to be a book published this year or even this century. It doesn’t need to be from an academic press. It doesn’t need to have won awards.

The only criteria are that you read (or re-read) the book this year, loved it and would recommend it to readers everywhere—especially your NOVA colleagues.

Send the title and author of your favorite to me at PresidentsOffice@nvcc.edu by the end of the day on Friday, December 9, and I’ll share out the list the following week.

To start, I’ll share one of my favorites, The Latecomer by Jean Hanff Korelitz (here’s a New York Times review of the novel by Allegra Goodman—an extraordinary author, herself). It’s a wonderful “sink into the sofa” read.

And that is a good reminder as we begin final exams and the big push to the end of fall semester, please make time and space for yourselves. Grab a cup of coffee or tea, close your eyes for a moment and breathe, and if the stress is getting too high, login to the TimelyCare app, now available to all NOVA employees.

Looking forward to getting your recommendations!
