Urge Students to Pay for Spring Classes Before Jan. 3 Deadline!

December 16, 2022 / General NOVA News

The spring term is approaching quickly, and the payment deadline happens almost as soon as we return from break (Jan. 3, 2023)! We are working hard to stress to students that they need to have made payment arrangements for their spring classes by January 3 in order to avoid having their courses dropped due to non-payment.

The below notice was sent to students earlier this week. We share it here so you can provide them with timely information and help guide them to take action sooner rather than later.

While the Daily Flyer will be on Winter Break after today, we will share more information about our ongoing outreach to students next week on the Office of Communications NOVANet site. Thank you for all you do to help our students!

Hi Nighthawks,

Winter Break will be here before you know it! With the spring semester approaching fast, we want to take this opportunity to share more information about holding your class schedule with financial aid.

Last week, we announced that students may be dropped from their spring courses if they haven’t made arrangements to pay their tuition by the payment deadline of January 3, 2023.

If you’ve already made one of the three arrangements we discussed in our last message—or if you have another payment arrangement in place (e.g., veterans’ benefits or third-party contracts)—you’re all set.

If you’ve already been awarded financial aid, and if your pending aid is equal to or more than what you owe NOVA in tuition, your classes will remain on your schedule. If you haven’t been awarded financial aid yet, or your award is not enough to fully cover your tuition, your classes may be dropped.

Remember, any financial aid you currently see on NOVAConnect for spring 2023 is based on being enrolled full time. If you’re enrolled in fewer than 12 eligible credits, your financial aid award may be reduced. Contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.

If you haven’t been awarded financial aid yet, you may want to explore the payment plan or pay your tuition out of pocket to hold your class schedule. Then, if financial aid is awarded, you will be refunded any funds you overpaid based on your refund preference.

Again, if you’ve already made payment arrangements (e.g., payment plans, financial aid, veterans’ benefits, third-party contracts, etc.), please disregard this message.
