Your One-Stop Shop for Student Communications
Throughout the fall semester, NOVA Communications has been working with the Office of Enrollment Management and Student Success (EMSS) staff on a comprehensive plan for student communications. Our goal is to decrease the volume of messages students receive, so they get the information they need to act on without being overwhelmed with information that is not as pressing.
Thanks to this close collaboration with EMSS, the Office of Communications will take on the college-wide student communications role fully, beginning with the spring 2023 semester.
That means we will share information with students on topics such as advising, registration, tuition, important dates and deadlines, graduation and commencement and transfer via the new Navigate platform. We will also work with those offices serving specific student populations (e.g., the Office of Military and Veteran Services, the Office of Accommodations and Accessibility and International Student Services).
I am also now the editor of Nighthawk News, NOVA’s student newsletter. Nighthawk News is sent to students electronically every two weeks. If you have an article you’d like published, submissions can be sent via Google Forms here.
Just to re-introduce myself, I returned to NOVA as associate director of student communications in September, after several years in student services both here at NOVA and at Montgomery College. I look forward to working with our student-facing College departments and staff and to making sure every student can succeed because they are armed with the information they need when they need it.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me at SBowen@nvcc.edu if you have questions.
We will continue to share more information about our on-going outreach to students on the Office of Communications NOVANet site. Thank you for all you do to help our students!
