It’s Not Too Late!
We have been working hard to communicate with students the importance of the College’s payment deadlines, securing their classes, and making sure those classes remain right where they put them–on their schedules. Hopefully, by this point, they have been able to create the course schedule for spring 2023 that works for them. If they are enrolled for spring 2023, Today (January 9, 2023) is the day to check their course enrollment through MyNOVA. Here is the very important information we are sending them today. Please communicate this information to any students you encounter who seem confused or unprepared for the coming term:
Hello Nighthawks,
You’ve been hearing from us about payment deadlines, securing your classes, etc. Hopefully, you’ve been able to put together a course schedule for spring 2023 that works for you.
If you are enrolled for spring 2023, Today, (Jan. 9, 2023) is the day to check your course enrollment through MyNOVA.
You’re looking for three things:
- If you enrolled for spring but weren’t able to set up payment arrangements, you may have been dropped from classes. If you have been, you’ll need to act quickly to re-enroll in those or similar classes.
- If you’re enrolling (or re-enrolling) in classes now, there is not another automatic drop date. You will be responsible for either dropping or paying for anything you add.
- If you’re enrolled in any course you don’t actually want, you are responsible for dropping the class. NOVA will not drop it automatically at this point. If you don’t drop it, you will owe the tuition for it.
Remember: It’s not too late to add classes. But you’ll need to hurry to get the courses you need before they fill up.
So what classes do you need?
You can see what classes you need by doing an Advisement Report. The Advisement Report shows how all your classes fit into your program of study (or major) at NOVA.
When you run your report, first check that it lists the program of study you’re following. If it doesn’t, you may need to officially change your major at the college, so it’s correct in the system. (If you need to change your major, make plans to meet with an advisor.)
How do you run an Advisement Report?
Don’t worry. We’ve got two tutorials to help you:
- View My Advisement Report (nvcc.edu)
- NOVA’s Advisement Report: How to Enroll in Your Classes (YouTube)
If you’ve got questions, you have several options to meet with an advisor. Whatever you need to keep moving toward your academic goals, NOVA’s got you covered.
