National Healthy Weight Week January 15th – 21st

January 17, 2023 / Get Well

National Healthy Weight Week, observed since 1994, kicks off annually during the third week in January. The observance aims to reinforce healthy eating as a way of life. According to the CDC, achieving a healthy weight isn’t about a “diet” or “program” but a lifestyle with healthy eating patterns, regular physical activity, and stress management. National Healthy Weight Week collaborators encourage the use of evidence-based resources to establish healthy relationships with food, a positive body image, and approaches to improving health habits.

It takes time – more than a week, certainly – to make a permanent, lifelong change, but change won’t happen if we don’t get started. If you have not yet done so, consider using this week as an opportunity to refresh your healthy weight goal or any related wellness goals. For more information on goal setting, take a minute to revisit this message in the Daily Flyer Goal Setting for Stress Reduction.

Before starting, please be reminded that we recommend talking to your doctor about important health measurements and numbers such as blood pressure, cholesterol levels, heart rate, Body Mass Index (BMI) and waist circumference. By knowing these measurements, you’ll be able to approach your wellness plan [goal setting] with a renewed sense of confidence and safety.

Embrace the chance to start or recommit to good health habits.
