Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for NVCC.edu–Enhancements Effective Jan. 25

January 24, 2023 / Tech Notes & Training

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is a way of verifying that the people logging into NOVA’s systems are indeed the people we think they are. In these times when malicious and phishing email attacks are a daily occurrence, MFA provides a way to limit the number and impact of these attacks and to help ensure that only authorized users are accessing our systems. MFA is required to access your @NVCC.edu email, NOVAnet, the Office 365 suite and more*.

Enhancements effective January 25 to help keep your NOVA accounts safe include:

  • User ID confirmation
  • App Content
  • Location, i.e., Where the MFA request is coming from (city, state, country)
  • Number Matching
  • Fraud Alerts

Watch the Daily Flyer and NOVAnet for more details on this roll-out.

*NVCC MFA is separate from VCCS MFA which uses Rapid Identity.
