Nighthawk Creative Writer’s Nest: A New Student-Centered Club

Judy Gomez and Rima Gulshan have become co-advisors to a new student-centered creative writing club called Nighthawk Creative Writer’s Nest. 

The club invites students from all disciplines to join so we can work on writing across the curriculum. This is a peer-reviewed creative writing group that supports fellow club members’ writing by providing constructive critique and support without the stress of earning grades. It is an effort to emphasize the power of the written word and the importance of what it can accomplish. We will meet online and in person at least once a month as student member schedules allow.

Additionally, the club hopes to use its platform to bring LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC voices to the forefront of the narrative. Decolonizing creative writing spaces is an important endeavor in making sure that all students at NOVA feel seen.

Judy and Rima hope to share some of the student work with the NOVA community to celebrate our brave, courageous and inspiring Nighthawks!
