Upcoming Quality Matters Workshop Schedule

February 9, 2023 / Tech Notes & Training

We often receive emails from faculty asking what standards we have been using for online and hybrid courses at NOVA. If you have the same question, we’ve been using the Quality Matters (QM) Rubric as all other VCCS colleges. The QM Rubric is a national quality standard for online and hybrid course design with a focus on quality design and continuous improvement.

To help NOVA faculty learn more about this national standard, NOVA Online will offer three sessions of “Applying the QM Rubric.” This is Quality Matters’ flagship workshop on the QM Rubric and its use in designing and reviewing online courses. It is asynchronous and available online in Canvas, and you can learn anywhere anytime. The upcoming sessions are:

  • Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR), February 21 – March 7
  • Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR), March 21 – April 4
  • Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR), March 28 – April 11

Most participants report about 10-12 hours of work per week. As this workshop is a paid opportunity for training, we expect faculty to take the workshop only when you can commit to its completion. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate from Quality Matters.

You can register at GSMU through Online Teaching on the navigation menu. Questions or more information? Please email Hong Wang at HWang@nvcc.edu.
