Announcing the ACCP Monthly Brown Bag: “What’s Happening in Your Classroom?” Feb. 23

February 21, 2023 / Events

As Parker Palmer asks in the classic book, The Courage to Teach, “How can we who teach reclaim our hearts, for the sake of our students, ourselves and educational reform?”

In the spirit of discovering our answers to this question, the Annandale Center for Contemplative Practice is now hosting a monthly lunchtime Brown Bag. We’re calling it the “ACCP Brown Bag – What’s Happening in Your Classroom.” The first of these hour-long sessions is on Thursday, February 23, from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m on the Annandale Campus (CM-332). Feel free to bring a lunch, and we’ll connect over what’s happening in our classrooms within a supportive community.

As Parker Palmer goes on to write, “…we are distanced by a grading system that separates teachers from students, by departments that fragment fields of knowledge, by competition that makes students and teachers, alike, wary of their peers, and by a bureaucracy that puts faculty and administration at odds.”

We’re convinced it doesn’t have to be this way! Let’s talk about it and see what happens.

We hope to see you there! Although we have teaching faculty in mind for this one, college staff are more than welcome to attend! Reservations are not required. Feel free to drop in!
