Compassion-202: Forgiveness Workshop Offered on Annandale Campus, March 3
The Annandale Center for Contemplative Practice will offer our next workshop on the topic of forgiveness. This workshop will be held on Friday, March 3, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., on the Annandale Campus, CM-332.
Forgiveness can seem hard, and sometimes forgiveness can seem impossible. There is injustice in this world, and we are all at times subject to that injustice. We have all been hurt, we have suffered, we have been betrayed and we have been let down by those who are in roles of responsibility. Whereas we don’t believe that this world is a world that is built for pain, suffering and injustice, it seems that it’s certainly not off of the table when it comes to our experiences. We all most definitely have grounds for withholding forgiveness.
Yet, we also ask, when we don’t forgive, who is it that suffers?
In this workshop, we’ll explore this very question, and we’ll discover the art and practice of applied forgiveness as an act of compassion to ourselves and to others. Yes, forgiveness can be very hard to do, and engaging with forgiveness can be a point of real difficulty and pain. Sometimes, it may even require permission to grieve, and thus, we can practice forgiveness together.
This workshop is supported by the NOVA Foundation and the office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion through a DEI InNOVAtion Grant. A vegetarian boxed lunch will be provided to all participants.
