NOVA Seeks Interim Director of Communications. Express Interest by COB Monday, March 6
As you may have heard (or seen in the tear-stained faces of her team), Dawn Selak will be leaving NOVA later this month for a new opportunity, and NOVA is now seeking an interim director of communications. Reporting to the vice president of strategy, research and workforce innovation, the interim director of communications will lead the development of strategic internal and external communications programs that elevate the College’s overall communications efforts with faculty, staff, students and members of the community.
The interim director will manage a talented team of communications and visual services professionals responsible for telling NOVA’s stories through compelling written, spoken and visual content. The team’s responsibilities include developing a strategic communications plan, coordinating media relations, promoting and amplifying NOVA on social media, capturing compelling photos and videos and sharing key information and uplifting anecdotes with NOVA’s faculty, staff, students and community. By developing and maintaining the communications story map, the team helps to ensure College messages and talking points are consistent across all programs, services and campuses.
The person selected to fill this role must hold a Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business or a related field; and have significant professional and leadership experience in a communications position in the post-secondary, government or business sectors. Acting pay, in accordance with VCCS policy, will be provided for the duration of this appointment.
NOVA employees who meet these qualifications, understand the requirements and wish to be considered for the role of interim director of communications, should submit a one-page letter of interest outlining their qualifications to Vice President Steve Partridge (SPartridge@nvcc.edu) no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023. The interim director of communications will be selected and appointed by the vice president from the pool of qualified individuals expressing interest.
