Healing Circles for April, and New Facilitator Training
The Office of DEI has three important updates regarding Healing Circles at NOVA:
- We are planning Healing Circles for April! If you are interested in participating in a circle during the month of April, please share your availability and preferences by clicking here.
- New Facilitator Training available! Are you interested in becoming a Healing Circle facilitator? Now’s your chance! New facilitators will begin training by attending the virtual Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) Institute on June 27-30, followed by additional training over the summer. If you are interested in receiving training to become a Healing Circle facilitator, please email Sherrene DeLong (sdelong@nvcc.edu).
- There are a few spots left in the virtual circle happening in March! This circle will be on Fri, Mar. 24, 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., co-facilitated by Vanessa Diaz (College Staff) and Lawrence Nightingale (WO). Click here to register.
Please note that Healing Circles are intended for NOVA faculty and staff at this time. If you have questions or want to know more about Healing Circles, please contact Sherrene DeLong in the Office of DEI (SDeLong@nvcc.edu).
Healing Circles are groups of around 30 people or fewer coming together to share individual truths, history and stories. They are led by two trained co-facilitators who guide the circle through a series of prompts and debriefs that lead to generative conversations. The experience is usually three hours long with time for group sharing, conversations in pairs and self-reflection. The process of listening and becoming open to one another’s perspectives and experiences is what leads to a transformative experience. Read more about Healing Circles here.
