Portions of Annandale’s CFH First Floor Temporarily Closed, Activities Relocated
Recently, in preparation for renovating the Founder’s Hall Building at the Annandale Campus (CFH), the College’s facilities team discovered some asbestos ceiling tile on the first floor and has closed this first-floor section of that building. We are working to address the situation safely and quickly and to re-open this portion of the building as soon as possible. Below are some details and the project plan:
- Areas Affected: Founder’s Hall Building (CFH), 1st floor, west side of the hallway. The map below shows the area that will be closed circled in red.
- Safety: Out of an abundance of caution, we have closed these areas until a professional remediation team can address the issue. The air tests performed show that the air quality is safe, but since we have discovered this and are in process of renovating there, we must address it before proceeding.
- The Project Plan and Schedule: We will relocate all activities from the referenced areas immediately, and then next week, a team of professional remediators will proceed with the abatement work, which will take approximately three to four weeks to complete. The work will be performed safely, in compliance with all requirements and will not affect those using other areas of the Founder’s Hall Building. There will be signage re-directing building users.
- Obtaining Items Left in These Spaces: If you have items that you must retrieve while the project is underway, please contact oem@nvcc.edu to gain access.
If you have questions, please reach out to the College Call Center at 703-323-3000.
