March 24, 2023 / Events

NOVA Online, in collaboration with amazing faculty across NOVA’s campuses and divisions, offers college-wide webinars to promote best practices in teaching online, hybrid and remote courses at NOVA. This on-going program continues to support faculty for teaching online through peer learning and community building after they complete the hybrid certification course and the NOL certification course.

Professor Nasser Maksoud (IET, LO) will present “Practical and Equitable Ways to Engage Students in Hybrid Courses” at this upcoming webinar on today from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. Professor Maksoud is an associate professor in the Division of Information and Engineering Technology located on the Loudoun Campus. He has rich experience teaching different modalities of courses at NOVA. He is also a multi-certified engineer in Enterprise Information Technology, Microsoft certified trainer and EC-Council certified instructor.

Hybrid learning combines the benefits of both face-to-face and online modes of instruction. This webinar will share how Maksoud engaged students to build a learning community through different strategies and instructional technology tools. Takeaways include practical ways to engage students to build learning community, interesting ideas to create synchronous and asynchronous online learning activities, examples to connect learning with a professional field and the real world and making good use of instructional technology tools in hybrid courses. All the learning activities are developed through the lens of leveling the playing field for all learners. Come join us to see how your talented colleague developed hybrid courses, and perhaps you could integrate some of those strategies into your own courses.
