Join ADJ-250 and Southern AZ Against Slavery on Trafficking and What You Can Do, April 11

March 29, 2023 / Events

Human trafficking is a modern-day slavery that involves the illegal trade of human beings for the purpose of forced labor, sexual or other forms of exploitation. Human trafficking is not just an international challenge. It also affects those in the U.S. and even has a presence locally. This serious global problem impacts millions of people worldwide. Victims of human trafficking are subjected to physical, sexual and psychological abuse. Often, they are subjected to violence, torture and even death.

Please join our Global Security for Law Enforcement (ADJ-250) class for an eye-opening virtual discussion on human trafficking with the Southern Arizona Against Slavery Coalition. This important event will be held Tuesday, April 11, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Sadly, the Southern Arizona Against Slavery Coalition knows a great deal about Human Trafficking! In 2009, Andy and Chelsea Hall who were then undergraduates at University of Arizona, realized that despite record numbers of human trafficking victims, few people knew or were talking about it. This led them to found a grassroots coalition to inform the world of the scourge of human trafficking–and the Southern Arizona Against Slavery Coalition was born with the mission statement, “A community coalition fighting all forms of trafficking in Arizona and around the world.” This coalition, to date, has provided resources for sting operations, organized a trafficking conference at the University of Arizona and has educated thousands on Human Trafficking.

Now, they have graciously agreed to provide a presentation for the NOVA community to emphasize the importance of talking about this terrible violation of human rights, and what each of us can do to combat it.
