Keep the Lessons of National Nutrition Health Month Alive. Share Them
Thank you for celebrating, reflecting, and experimenting with us! As the Month of March comes to a close, we invite you to continue the spirit of Nutrition Health Month by regularly looking at your nutrition, considering how you can positively change your habits and lifestyle; and engaging all members of the family- particularly the ”Little Ones.”
Get the Kids in the Kitchen
When children participate in the preparation and assembly of a dish, they’re more likely to try it—and like it! So, buy a tiny apron and get those kids into the kitchen.
For a few tips, strategies and/or inspiration:
- Watch the “Cooking with Kids” video from our friends at eatright.org.
- Check out The Kids Cook Monday for culinary inspiration and ways to get young people excited about cooking.
- Visit the Meatless Monday Campaign links, as they also offer tons of kid-friendly recipes designed specifically for youthful pallets and developing motor skills.
- Revisit our nutrition articles in the Daily Flyer.
Don’t let the month of March go by without:
- Clicking on NOVA’s Healthy Nutrition Padlet to take a recipe and/or leave a recipe that you and your family have enjoyed.
- Referring to Food Security Resources – Virginia Department of Social Services for a listing of programs and services that exist to support Virginia households working to put food on their tables.
- Contributing to those members of our community who are in need of food support. Here is the information you need to plan your contributions to The Nighthawk Nest Food Pantry. Please note that donations are being accepted at the Pender Building between March 20 and 31 for the Employee Wellness March Food Drive. Please share generously.
