Were you able to make a contribution to the Nighthawk Nest Food Pantry? Do you try some of the tips from the Meatless Monday articles or experiment with a new cuisine? Were you able to take a recipe from the NOVA Collection of Healthy Recipes

  • Yes? Great!. Continue to revisit and expand your palate;
  • No? No worries. Those resources will continue to be there for you.

April is here, The Move It Monday Campaign is back! Spring In Action.

The Surgeon General recommends that adults participate in 150 minutes of moderate-intensity movement each week. Only about 20% of Americans meet the recommended physical activity goals. Many adults sit behind the wheel driving to work and then sit most of the day at a computer, taking only a few breaks to stand up and move around. Others find themselves working remotely and stay parked in front of their computers all day.

However, there is good news! No matter where you live, work, or go to school, you can find ways to move more and sit less throughout your day. Moving more and sitting less can reduce your risk for many serious conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, and certain kinds of cancer. Some studies suggest that physical activity can have mental benefits as well, helping to relieve depression and maintain thinking abilities as you age.

Move It Monday reminds us that walking is one of the simplest ways to get active. With each step you take, you travel further down the path to a healthier lifestyle.

Join your NOVA colleagues as we spend April focusing on becoming more intentional about moving more.
