The Annandale Center for Contemplative Practice is excited to invite you to our final DEI – Thriving Together workshop of the Spring semester, this one titled, COMMUNE: Thriving Together!Join us on Friday, April 21, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Annandale Center for Contemplative Practice, Annandale Campus (CM-332)Click to register.

Throughout history, people have come together through common interest or initiative to share experiences, learn together, and find support in each other’s company. These times can be uplifting, meaningful, and simply restorative. The reality of “real life” that we encounter, and re-encounter, comes with challenges and struggles; at times we might see our gatherings with others as a respite or a refuge from the pressure in our lives.

Of course, we’ve probably also all been to gatherings where we wanted to leave as soon as we walk in the door. Not all shared activities offer constructive experiences. And not all group behaviors – as normative as they might be – contribute to an inclusive community.

When we gather, how might we do so best? How might we bring intention and integrity to the shared spaces we hold? How can we join with others while maintaining our authentic selves? How can we stay anchored to who we really are and want to be?

In this workshop, COMMUNE, we’ll gather under the flag of what a gathering is, and why we do it. We’ll commune together, explore the impacts of patterns of gathering, and find how we can fit into the puzzle of the human experience. Not as one struggling to find a place, but as perfectly formed pieces that belong within the whole.

Join us for COMMUNE: Thriving Together!

This workshop is supported by the NOVA Foundation and the office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion via a DEI InNOVAtion Grant. A vegetarian boxed lunch will be provided to all participants.
