Title IX: Your Questions Answered! April 18

It is important for ALL NOVA students, staff and faculty to know their rights and responsibilities under Title IX. Please save the date for an upcoming Office of DEI Food-for-Thought event featuring our new Title IX Coordinator, Laura Buchs. This webinar will be held on Tuesday, April 18, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.Register here for the link.

How familiar are you with Title IX? Here are some fast facts:

  • Title IX is the federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sex.
  • The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for keeping NOVA in compliance with this law.
  • Title IX applies to everyone at the institution- students, staff, and faculty.
  • All NOVA employees have Title IX reporting obligations!
  • Students are entitled to pregnancy and parenting accommodations in your classes.
  • Title IX is not restricted to athletics or sexual violence.
  • The latest proposed Title IX regulations, when printed, are 700 pages long.
