Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR): How to Make a Report
The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR) promotes and encourages honesty, integrity and respect among NOVA students and staff. They accomplish their mission through education, compliance through behavioral standards and support of individual rights. Their work helps enhance the quality of the NOVA community and equips faculty, staff and students with what they need to be successful, inside and outside of the classroom.
Understanding the Role of Coordinators of Student Integrity and Conduct:
Coordinators of student integrity and conduct work to investigate alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct. In addition, they take the lead in the following programs and initiatives to keep the NOVA community informed about their work:
- Adjudication of informal and formal code of conduct hearings
- Mediation (settling differences)
- Student development workshops
- Professional development workshops on topics like conflict resolution and classroom management
- Referrals to resources and services
In addition to the efforts of staff in the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR), NOVA community members can play a vital role in submitting reports to ensure NOVA’s college-wide efforts to ensure honesty, integrity and respect across all stakeholders in our institution. Below is an overview of the referral report and how to submit one.
There are five reporting or referral categories:
- Academic Integrity Concerns/violations
- Student Needing Assistance
- Conduct (violation of the student code of conduct)
- Title IX/Sexual Misconduct/Sex or Gender Discrimination
- Pregnant and/or Parenting-TIX
How to make a report:
Faculty, staff and students should always use the Violation of the Student Code of Conduct Reporting Form (maxient.com) to report any alleged violation. You can review NOVA’s Student Conduct Policy before reporting.
The OSRR continues to work to provide a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for every NOVA community member.
