Use Those Softer Days of Summer to Enhance Online and Hybrid Learning

April 28, 2023 / Tech Notes & Training

Are you a teaching faculty member who is eager to continuously improve students’ learning experience in online and hybrid courses? Did you intend to learn the Quality Matters (QM) national standards for online and hybrid courses but haven’t had time yet? Would you like to take time during the slower pace of summer to complete a nationally recognized workshop without paying hundreds of dollars out of your own pocket? If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, we have great news! NOVA Online will offer multiple sessions of Applying the QM Rubric workshop, free for all NOVA faculty (full-time and part-time).

The QM Rubric is a national quality standard for online and hybrid courses with a focus on quality course design and continuous improvement. NOVA and all other VCCS colleges have been using this standard for online and hybrid courses. The workshop is delivered online asynchronously so that you can learn anywhere anytime to complete assignments by the due dates. As no registration cost will be refunded for dropped or incomplete participants, we encourage you to commit to completion and summer seems to be a great time for it. Upon successful completion of the online workshop, you will receive a certificate from Quality Matters to show your professional background in this national standard. The schedule for the first two summer sessions is listed here:

Applying the QM Rubric, June 6 – 20
Applying the QM Rubric, June 13 – 27

You can find more sessions and register at GoSignMeUp by selecting Online Teaching on the navigation menu. Questions or further information? Please contact Hong Wang at hwang@nvcc.edu.
