Advising Redesign Update: Advising Team Rosters are Here!

May 1, 2023 / General NOVA News

We all work with students in our respective areas to share our perspectives, experiences, knowledge and information that help students to succeed in college. Now, imagine having your very own team of people and resources from across the College with whom you can connect to support each other in that work. Now we have all this through our Advising Teams!!

Advising Teams reflect our commitment to shared responsibility and support for our students. The team approach to advising brings everyone together–advisors, student support services and academic departments–to foster a holistic approach to meeting the needs of students. See the four advising teams below:

You may be thinking, “This is all great, but who are my team members?” Click here for the roster. The Advising Redesign Architecture Subgroup met to select all the members of each Advising Team Roster, and those subgroup members are:

  • Mark Bumgarner, Associate Dean of Student Success (WO)
  • Stacey Bustillos, Associate Director of International Student Services
  • Sherika Charity, Director of Financial Aid
  • Krystal Edmead, Director of Accommodations and Accessibility Services
  • Ann-Danae Erickson, Campus Registrar (MA)
  • Dana Fallon, Director of Business Engagement & Career Services
  • Takesha McMiller, Interim AVP for Student Support Services
  • Emily Miller, Coordinator of Tutoring Center (MEC)
  • Jennifer Nelson, Coordinator of University Transfer & Initiatives
  • Mark Plaugher, Campus Registrar (MEC)
  • Lauren Reyna, Coordinator of Tutoring Center (MA)
  • Regina Sanders, Director of the Office of Wellness and Mental Health
  • Matt Todd, Dean of Libraries (AL)

The Architecture Team considered team member expectations and responsibilities, the equitable access of resources near the campus location for specific programs, academic discipline/pathway interests of team members and the number of students currently enrolled in the programs to create a college-wide student success teams approach.

After checking out who’s on your team, be sure to send them a note of welcome, and be on the lookout for team-building activities and opportunities from our Team Building group, led by Mr. Cecil (CJ) Jackson!
