2023 Religious Observance Calendar Now Available!

May 25, 2023 / General NOVA News

At Northern Virginia Community College, one of our core values is inclusion. Inclusion is demonstrated though an intentional commitment to welcoming, supporting and engaging diverse people and perspectives so that a sense of belonging is cultivated throughout our community. To ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for all, the Office of DEI is pleased to share NOVA’s new Religious Observance Calendar so faculty, staff, and students can identify the dates of important religious/faith observances in 2023. The calendar will be updated annually during the month of December. Please note, the information on the Religious Observance Calendar  is not exhaustive. If anyone has additional information, please email Associate Director of DEI, Dr. Mia Harper, at mharper@nvcc.edu.

The Religious Observance calendar supports our current college policy on Accommodations for Religious Observances (Policy 104) and can be used as a resource for faculty, staff and students as they prepare for each semester. This calendar is for informational purposes only to support our mission and college commitment to inclusive excellence. For information on official Virginia state approved holidays, please  always review the DHRM Pay and Holiday Calendar. For information about specific academic dates (registration, first and last day of class, finals, etc.), please always check the Academic Calendar.

If you have any additional questions or concerns about the Religious Observance Calendar, please contact Dr. Mia Harper, Associate Director of DEI at mharper@nvcc.edu for further assistance.

Thank you for helping us foster a respectful and inclusive community at NOVA.
