OMVS Celebrates Military Appreciation Month

To honor and celebrate our veteran and military-affiliated students, faculty and staff during Military Appreciation Month (May 1 – May 31), the Office of Military and Veteran Services will be offering a lottery to veteran and military-affiliated students, faculty and staff for free tickets to an upcoming Washington Nationals vs. Marlins game, on Saturday, June 17, at 4:05 p.m. (that’s 1605 for you military folks).

Thanks to another generous donation from the Washington Nationals organization and their Community Ticket Grant Program, we received 200 tickets, creating an opportunity for approximately forty participants to attend with up to four guests. Helping OMVS students feel connected and supported in their community is vital to their success as a NOVA Nighthawk.

The Office of Military and Veteran Services continues to serve our approximately over 4,000 veteran and military-affiliated students through certification of veteran education benefits, a monthly newsletter, community service projects, the re-establishment of a Student Veterans of America Chapter, a full slate of activities during Veterans Day week and opportunities provided through the Washington Nationals Organization. The Office of Military and Veteran Services provides comprehensive resources to veterans and military-related personnel who are utilizing VA and tuition assistant educational benefits.

OMVS students will receive an email with a link to register for the lottery. Interested veteran faculty and staff should use this link to register by June 1.
