Cochran-Yzquierdo Invited to Stowe Story Labs
Woodbridge Associate Professor of English/Screenwriting and graduate of Emerson College’s MFA in Writing for Film and Television, Kelly Cochran-Yzquierdo was selected to participate in Stowe Story Labs June 1 through 4, 2023. Stowe Story Labs is a “Vermont-based non-profit working with top, emerging screenwriters, filmmakers and creative producers from around the world. [They] help artists develop skills and projects, with the ultimate goal to get projects made and seen.” Learn more here.
This is another accolade for her award-winning TV Pilot, Club Drama, which won Best TV Pilot at New York Script Awards, 2022. Club Drama also was a finalist in Emerging Screenwriters – Genre Screenplay Competition 2023, a quarterfinalist in the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards Competition 2022 and was selected as a second rounder in The Austin Film Festival 2021.
Club Drama Logline: When a religious zealot councilwoman vows to rid 1994 Oklahoma City of it’s premier lesbian bar, an ostracized country music superstar leads a colorful cadre of queers in the fight to protect this LGBTQ+ safe haven and ensure love wins.
Professor Cochran-Yzquierdo is currently in the middle of rewrites on her feature, Love Loss, and limited series pilot, Remember This. Her next major projects include a Christmas Rom-Com feature and a memoir about her anti-LGBTQ+ college experience at a Christian university.
