Just In Time! Your Summer Reading List Is Here!

June 20, 2023 / Tuesday Topics

Today’s topic is your summer reading recommendations. Check them out here: NOVA Collected Summer Reading 2023.

NOVA loves to read! You recommended over 80 works spanning fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, plays and poetry. There was little overlap in your submissions—only four titles appeared on multiple lists, highlighting the engaging and enriching diversity of interests across our equally diverse community.

And, NOVA loves our college and regional libraries! Both to borrow books and to buy: several of you noted that some public libraries sell used books to fund their programming. I also received DMV bookstore recommendations that will take you from Baltimore to D.C. to Warrenton and points in-between.

Thank you for sharing your summer reading recommendations!

As promised, three readers selected at random will receive NOVA gold and green patchwork bookmarks: Nancy Ferguson, Rosemarie Harrington and Andrea Jensen. Look for these in the college’s inter-office mail.

On a related note, I hope you’re continuing to read the Daily Flyer this summer. My messages appear every-other Tuesday during this slightly-quieter time, and based on the number of HR-related questions received in advance of the last Zoom, Human Resources will be running periodic reminders about NOVA, VCCS and DHRM policies and practices. My thanks to HR AVP Charlotte Calobrisi and her team for keeping us all informed—and to Kathy Thompson, the tireless editor extraordinaire behind the Daily Flyer!

Enjoy your summer reading!
