The 2023 Writing Ourselves In institute kicks off the evening of Tuesday, August 8 with Dr. Strayhorn. The rest of the institute will be held Wednesday through Friday, August 9 through 11, from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will include interactive workshops on Problem-Based Learning (PBL), led by NOVA’s own Dr. Hong Wang and GMU’s Dr. Dawn Hathaway who will discuss Transparent Assignment Design (TAD).
Not ENG faculty? No problem! We invite interested stakeholders to attend, too!
Participants will leave the Institute with several redesigned assignments to use in their ENG 111 classes that align with both the new ENG 111 course content and the QEP goals. Part and full-time teaching faculty will receive compensation of $300 for completing the Summer Institute. The Summer Institute is scheduled to be held on the Woodbridge Campus. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. To attend, sign up here by July 1.
