New Job Posting Guidelines from DHRM

July 6, 2023 / HR News/Training

Supervisors and hiring officers, please be aware of an important revision regarding our job posting guidelines. Effective July 1, 2023, and in accordance with the revised DHRM Policy 2.10 – Hiring, we no longer include educational qualifications, occupational certifications, or licensing requirements in our job postings unless they are specifically required by law, regulation, or accrediting bodies. Additionally, the “Preferred Requirements” policy provision has been replaced with an “Additional Considerations” provision. The educational qualifications, occupational certifications, and licensing requirements apply only to classified and wage employee job postings and do not apply to any faculty rank positions.

The Commonwealth of Virginia aims to attract a wider range of talented candidates and to increase opportunities for all qualified job seekers to showcase the skills and potential of candidates who are committed to serving and supporting the Commonwealth’s public service mission. This updated policy aligns with NOVA’s commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within our institution.

If you have any questions or require guidance when creating your job postings, please reach out to your HR consultant. We are here to support you and provide guidance.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and your commitment to building an inclusive workplace.

If you have questions  about this change, please reach out to employment@nvcc.edu.
