The Employee Financial Wellness Program continues to provide resources to help you achieve financial independence as your financial wellness remains a priority in 2023. Please check out July’s financial wellness newsletter and the new items below to obtain the details of the financial education offerings and resources.

Employee Discounts. NASCAR IS BACK IN RICHMOND in July for a Limited Time Only! Check out AAA, Sam’s Club, TicketsatWork vacation packages, and other offers listed under the “Limited Time Offers” section! Be sure to check back often for updates on discounts for you and your family. Check out the State Employee Discounts webpage for these discounts!

Virginia Credit Union (VACU). Surviving in Today’s Economy. In times of economic uncertainty, let’s focus on what you can control. These upcoming webinars will share tips on increasing your value in the workplace, cutting expenses, boosting savings, and reducing debt. Please join VACU throughout the year for live 30-minute session. Register Now! (Employees can now register for sessions throughout the year or all at once!)

Virginia Retirement System (VRS). If you have a parent or loved one who is having difficulty managing their financial affairs, you may need to take on the role of financial caregiver. Everything You Need to Know About Becoming a Financial Caregiver, a five-minute read, surveys the basics on how to prepare for this role to ensure the safety and security of your loved one. Simply log in to your myVRS account and select Financial Wellness.

Virginia Department of Treasury (TRS). Searching for your missing money is now easier than ever! Our new, improved website is more intuitive and also offers a secure document upload feature, making claiming your funds quicker than ever before. Unclaimed property can include dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, stocks and dividends, insurance proceeds, refunds, and more. Visit our free search site to check your name and start the claims process. Search for Missing Money!

Employee Assistance Program (EAP). All health plans offered to state employees and their dependents have employee assistance programs (EAPs). Included are up to four sessions at no charge for such services as mental health, alcohol or drug abuse assessment, child or elder care, financial, grief counseling, and legal services such as estate planning. EAP

Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF). State employees may be eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Keep reading to see whether you might qualify. The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer. Virginia State Employee Loan Program (VSELP). Due to the success of the Employee Financial Wellness Program, the Virginia State Employee Loan Program (VSELP) will remain active throughout the calendar year, but will be dissolved thereafter.
