CWO, Faculty and Students Join Road Clean-up Initiative in Manassas

July 20, 2023 / Our Nighthawks

Earlier this year, NOVA faculty members and students actively engaged in the VDOT Adopt-A-Highway road cleanup campaign. Four faculty members gave their time, Rizza Hansen, MA-Math; Paphapit Rubis, MA-Bio; Jennifer Stephenson, MA-MTSB and Matthew Westerhoff, MA-Math. Also, NOVA’s Chief Wellness Officer, Dahlia Henry-Tett; and four students: Mahboob Abrahimi, Robert Chen, Evan Skrab, and Joshue Zuniga-Valdez.

Within a two-and-a-half-hour timeframe, we collaborated to collect ten bags of debris along a half-mile stretch of Featherbed Lane, located within the Manassas Battlefield Parkway. This endeavor served as a brief escape as the semester ended. With a sense of fulfillment, we are proud to have made a positive impact on the environment during this enjoyable excursion, marking the end of the semester.
