Register for NOVA’s Fall Convocation by July 28–Also, Sign Up to Volunteer!

July 20, 2023 / Countdown to Convocation

The new academic year is fast approaching, and our annual fall convocation is on the horizon. We’re excited to share that NOVA’s College-wide Convocation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16. Faculty and staff may attend in person at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center on NOVA’s Alexandria Campus (AS) or participate in campus watch parties. Brault and Pender staff will participate at Schlesinger.

Wanna help? Sign up to be a Convocation volunteer! This celebratory event would not be possible without the many dedicated faculty and staff who help to make it happen! We are looking for enthusiastic faculty and staff who would like to volunteer for one of the biggest days for the NOVA community. Volunteers will engage directly with guests by providing directions, guidance and creating a celebratory atmosphere throughout the event. If you are interested in helping? Register here to volunteer. The link to volunteer is also available on the Convocation webpage.

This year’s theme is “Sense of Belonging.” The morning will feature a keynote address by Dr. Terrell Strayhorn; faculty, staff and student panels; and discussion of the strategic goals for NOVA’s new strategic plan, Inspiring Excellence: A Bold Blueprint for Student Success.

All NOVA offices will be closed on August 16  from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. to allow all faculty and staff to participate. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for registered guests at both the Schlesinger location and at the watch parties. Please register for convocation by Friday, July 28, at 5 p.m For registration, news and updates, visit the Convocation webpage and look for our special edition “Countdown to Convocation” section in the Daily Flyer.
