A Night of Belonging with Terrell Strayhorn, August 8
Join your colleagues Tuesday, August 8th, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. for A Night of Belonging with Dr. Terrell Strayhorn. This event will be held on the Woodbridge Campus in the Workforce Development Center (WRC). Light refreshments will be provided.
Dr. Terrell Strayhorn is Professor of Higher Education and Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies at Illinois State University. Author of over 11 books, Dr. Strayhorn’s research examines college students’ sense of belonging, especially how belonging differs based on students’ social identities, such as race, gender, sexual orientation or the conditions they encounter on campus.
Open to all NOVA employees and area high school instructors, attendees will enjoy a keynote on how to develop students’ sense of belonging. Following the keynote, participants will transition into an interactive workshop focused on aligning goals for teaching writing at the high school level and at NOVA. While Dr. Strayhorn will focus on writing-intensive classes, all faculty are welcome to attend.
