Sports Memorabilia Online Auction to Help Our Students
On February 16, 2023, Northern Virginia Community College and the NOVA Foundation publicly announced the creation of the Student Success Fund. This fund removes barriers for academically successful but financially challenged students by providing scholarships and emergency grants to keep students on their path to academic or career success.
The fund will officially open for student applications this fall. The NOVA Foundation has committed $250,000 to establish the Student Success Fund and support student emergency grants and just-in-time scholarships during the 2023/2024 academic year. This investment represents the NOVA Foundation’s key objective in support of the college’s mission.
Thanks to the generous donation of his prized Cowboys memorabilia collection by Woodbridge Campus Provost Emeritus Sam Hill, a Texas native and lifelong Cowboys fan, the NOVA Foundation has created a special online auction to benefit the Student Success Fund.
Sports for Student Success is live now for bidding and will be open until 11:55 p.m. on Sunday, August 20.
Bids can be made on a Washington Nationals baseball signed by second-year shortstop C.J. Abrams, who is currently hitting over .400; a Washington Redskins (now Commanders) football signed by former Coach Joe Gibbs and a D.C. United cherry blossom jersey and premium tickets. Also included are the 12 pieces of Dallas Cowboys memorabilia Dr. Hill made available for this opportunity.
Your purchase of items from this sports memorabilia collection will directly help our NOVA students who are facing financial challenges and provide a fine addition to your sports memorabilia collection or a nice gift for the holiday season.
Those notified of a winning bid should plan to pick up their item(s) from the NOVA Foundation Office in the Brault Building, at the Annandale Campus. Winners outside of Virginia will be asked to cover shipping costs for their item(s).
