Thank You for All You do to Help Students Feel They Belong
Today’s topic is a welcome!
The first week of the semester always flies by in a flash, so with this Tuesday Topic, I simply want to say, welcome to NOVA’s new faculty and staff and welcome back to our returning colleagues! I am grateful for all that you bring to our students, our college and our mission.
I know that you are extending similar welcomes to the excited, nervous, dedicated and maybe even a-little-overwhelmed NOVA Nighthawks filling your classrooms, labs and offices this week. Thank you!
At last week’s Convocation, we heard from students and colleagues about the simple acts of welcome that lay the foundation for a strong sense of belonging. Saying hello in the hallway, greeting students by name, walking a student to the right office, inviting a colleague for coffee—all small, authentic gestures in the rush of each day that say: you are welcome, you are included, you belong.
Please know how much each is appreciated.
Welcome!
