OSI Publishes Latest Issue of Data Spotlight Newsletter

NOVA’s Office of Strategic Insights (OSI) is pleased to announce the latest edition of Data Spotlight: Charting Student Success Through Data & Research. This issue focuses on the Northern Virginia labor market and presents data on occupations, job postings and skills.

NOVA’s service area makes up 30 percent of Virginia’s population and a third of its employment. There were over 26,000 job postings in NOVA’s service area between May 2022 and April 2023 that advertised for candidates with an associates degree. These postings included a wide range of industries and occupations, including healthcare, education, business and finance and information technology. The top skills employers were looking for on these postings included nursing, auditing, accounting, marketing and administrative support. NOVA graduates can select from a variety of high-paying, in-demand occupations.

Data Spotlight, a publication of NOVA’s Office of Strategic Insights, is a quarterly newsletter that makes institutional research easy to understand by presenting data related to NOVA’s student achievement criteria, key performance indicators, regional labor market and other important metrics in a visual format.

In addition to providing key insights into the College and its role in the Northern Virginia region, Data Spotlight puts NOVA’s institutional data in a national context. Through text and graphics, Data Spotlight tells the story behind the data to help faculty and staff support student access and success. It also furthers NOVA’s Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan; as well as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategic Plan.
