Help a Nighthawk Out! School Supplies Drive Runs thru Sept. 1
A “USA Today” article on August 25, 2022, said, during the 2022-2023 school year, households would spend an estimated $1,199 for college back-to-school supplies. This is a 35.5% increase since 2019. The rise in retail costs can be a real financial challenge; and not just for small kids, but also for our NOVA students’ household budgets, and even more challenging when you add in the increase in grocery and gas prices.
As we enter the fall 2023 semester, the Office of Financial Stability and Advocacy would like to help our students who find it difficult to afford school supplies. During this time, we want to stock some of the most needed items in our campus Food and Personal Wellness pantries. The NOVA Nighthawk School Supplies Drive will take place August 21 through September 1. Please consider stopping by to donate to help ease the strain on our Nighthawks. Items to donate will include:
- Notebooks
- Binders
- Pens
- Pencils
- Loose leaf college-ruled paper
- Highlighters
Drop-off locations for donated school supplies will be at each Nighthawk Nest Food and Personal Wellness Pantry and central building locations at the following locations.
