Interpreting Services for College Programs or Events

September 1, 2023 / General NOVA News

Those responsible for the coordination of the College’s various services, programming and events are expected to include a line in their messaging about accommodations. The recommended verbiage is: “To request accommodations to participate in this [service, program, or event], you may contact [the responsible party] at [email address].”

Faculty, staff, students and visitors can request sign language interpreters or CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) captions to participate in activities outside of the classroom. If you would like to request a sign language interpreter or a CART caption transcriber for yourself or on behalf of someone else, you can do so using the One Time Event Request Form

Requests are to be submitted at least 48 hours in advance. Any requests received within less than 48 hours may not be fulfilled. The Interpreter Services Office will follow up with the requestor to provide a status update.

Students follow a different process for requesting and receiving support in their classes.  Students seeking accommodations for their classes should be referred to Accommodations and Accessibility Services.
