State Dept. Gilman Scholarship App. Open! Student Info Session, Sept. 12
The Benjamin Gilman Scholarship application to intern or study abroad is now live! Join the info session on Tuesday, September 12, at 12 p.m. to learn more about the scholarship and how to apply.
If you have students who are dreaming of studying or interning abroad, please point them toward the Gilman Scholarship! The U.S. Department of State’s Gilman Scholarship is an undergraduate scholarship program for U.S. citizens or nationals of limited financial means to enable them to experience the life-changing (literally) opportunity to study or intern in an international destination! The program provides awards of up to $5,000 for students who are U.S. citizens, Federal Pell Grant recipients and studying at the undergraduate level at a two- or four-year institution. In the past two years alone, NOVA has had an impressive 16 students receive this highly competitive scholarship! In fall 2022, eight students applied and FIVE were awarded the scholarship! The Office of International Education & Sponsored Programs is here to help your student be the next recipient!
You can read some stories of NOVA Gilman Scholars here.
The student application deadline is Thursday, October 5, so it’s time for them to get to work on their applications! Receiving this scholarship will make you a more competitive candidate for jobs, other scholarships and admission to graduate programs. For more information, inform students of the information session on Tuesday, September 12 at 12 p.m. If they have questions, have them contact Leeza Fernand, NOVA Associate Director of International Education & Sponsored Programs at LFernand@nvcc.edu. You may also contact the Gilman Program directly at Gilman@iie.org. The Zoom link and passcode can be found below:
